If you can can you make it so replies don’t show on the group post board?
Can you make a tab for notifications at the top? (Like Zenforo)

Now, if user has notifications, a blinking mail envelope appears in top menu, next to the Profile link. If user has no notification nothing will appear.

No time to make a wordpress plugin 🙂
Add this code to your functions.php:add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'my_nav_menu_notifications_link' ); function my_nav_menu_notifications_link($menu) { if (!is_user_logged_in()) return $menu; else $notifications = bp_core_get_notifications_for_user(bp_loggedin_user_id(), 'object'); $count = !empty($notifications) ? count($notifications) : 0; if ($count > 0){ $current_user = wp_get_current_user(); $user=$current_user->user_nicename ; $notification_link = '<li><a href="http://www.yoursite.com/members/'.$user.'/notifications/"><img style="vertical-align:sub;" src="http://URL_TO_ICON"></a></li>'; $menu = $menu . $notification_link; } return $menu; } -
